Facts

Spiders

Spiders use their web to attract female spiders for mating. They can pluck their webs to emit a low-frequency noise that catches the attention of other spiders. A cobweb is an abandoned spider web.

Cochroaches

A cockroach can live a week without its head. The roach only dies because without a mouth, it can’t drink water and dies of thirst. Many species of cockroach, particularly the American cockroach are attracted to alcohol. Beer is among the most alluring scents to the cockroach. Cockroaches are considered to be among the filthiest insects in existence as well as the fly. Millions of pathogens and bacterial cells are found on a roach.

Ants

Ants are the longest living insects. Known as the hardest workers of the insect world, ants actually don’t sleep. They stay awake their entire lives. There are over 12,000 ant species worldwide. Ants cannot chew their food. They move their jaws sideways, like a scissor, to extract the juices from the food.

Rats

Rats contaminate and destroy 20% of agriculture products worldwide each year. That's enough food to feed 200 million people each year. Rats can have as many as 20 babies at a time.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs can live as long as a year without eating. They are attracted to the carbon dioxide you breathe. They can also reproduce quickly. A female bed bug lays around 200 to 250 eggs in her life span.

Mites

When living on a person, an adult female mite can live up to a month. They prey on skin, feathers, the blood of animals, smaller microorganisms, and decaying matter.

Termites

Termites eat feces. They alone cost Americans an average of $5 Billion in damage repair.

Fleas

Much like ants, fleas are capable of amazing feats of strength and agility. They can jump 130 times their own height, which makes them a nuisance to deal with within the home. This means they can move from surface to surface quickly and avoid detection.

Bees & Wasps

As many as 100 people die as a result of bee and wasp stings each year. Wasps can sting over and over again.

Scorpions

Scorpions were around long before the first dinosaurs. Their stings are more dangerous for children and those with existing heart or lung problems. Some scorpions can go a year without food.
